Green Waste Processing Plant in Indore

 India's first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Green Waste Processing Plant is set to launch in Indore. Established under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban, the plant aims to transform waste management by converting green waste into valuable, eco-friendly resources.

About the Green Waste Processing Plant in Indore:

The plant will process green waste, including wood, branches, leaves, and flowers, while generating revenue for the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC). As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the IMC will provide the land and transport green waste to the facility. A private company, Astronomical Industries Private Limited, will oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of the plant.

Initiatives in India for Green Waste Processing:

1. Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016: These rules mandate that biodegradable waste be processed, treated, and disposed of through composting or bio-methanation on-site whenever possible.

2. National Bioenergy Programme: This program supports the establishment of bioenergy projects across India.

3. Waste to Wealth Mission: Initiated by the Prime Minister's Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC), this mission focuses on strengthening waste management systems in India.
