The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a warning to Nestle India for violating insider trading regulations.

About Insider Trading

  • Definition: An insider is typically a person with access to unpublished, price-sensitive information (UPSI) within a company, often including senior management and officials.
  • Regulation: The Prohibition of Insider Trading (PIT) Regulations 2015, as amended in 2024, govern the trading practices of insiders. These regulations allow insiders to trade in securities in a compliant manner. Key provisions include:
    • Insiders have a limited window during which they can carry out trades to avoid insider trading.
    • Insiders must submit a ‘trading plan’ in advance, specifying the share price, quantity, and transaction date.

Exercise Khanjar

Ammu Swaminathan (1894 - 1978)

Smt. Ammu Swaminathan is one of the 15 women featured in "The Life and Contributions of the Women Members of the Constituent Assembly", a tribute by the Ministry of Law & Justice to their significant role in drafting India’s Constitution.

    • Arrested during the Quit India Movement of 1942.
    • Elected to the Constituent Assembly from Madras in 1946.

    • Defying Caste Norms: She referred to herself as Shudrachi to challenge upper-caste pride.
    • Women’s Rights: Ammu Swaminathan is believed to have co-founded the Women’s India Association (WIA) in 1917 alongside Annie Besant, aiming to fight for women’s economic rights and voting rights.
