US Removes Three Indian Entities from Its Entity List
The United States has removed three Indian entities from its restrictive Entity List: the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indira Gandhi Atomic Research Centre (IGCAR), and Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL). This move has the potential to rejuvenate the Indo-US Nuclear Cooperation Agreement of 2008.
About the US Entity List:
The US Entity List includes foreign individuals, businesses, research institutions, and government organizations subject to specific trade restrictions, often due to concerns over national security, terrorism, or weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs.

Updated Obesity Guidelines in India Based on BMI
Endocrinologists from the Diabetes Foundation India have updated India's obesity guidelines for the first time in 15 years. The new guidelines replace the term "overweight" with "Obesity Grades I and II," and move beyond the BMI criteria that were used in the 2009 guidelines.

Limitations of BMI:
- It does not differentiate between lean body mass and fat mass.
- It does not account for gender-related physiological differences.
- It does not measure the distribution of body fat.
Poaching Incident of Melanistic Royal Bengal Tiger in Simlipal Tiger Reserve
A melanistic Royal Bengal Tiger was poached in the Simlipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Odisha. STR is home to the only known population of melanistic tigers in the world.
About Melanistic Royal Bengal Tigers:
Also known as black tigers, these tigers are not a separate subspecies but exhibit a mutation in the Transmembrane Aminopeptidase Q (Taqpep) gene, resulting in a higher concentration of black pigmentation and thicker stripes. They are sometimes called "pseudo-melanistic" as they are not entirely black. Melanism leads to increased melanin production, which is responsible for the coloration of hair, skin, and eyes.
