 Kampala Declaration

At the African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), the 10-year CAADP Strategy and Action Plan was adopted, along with the Kampala CAADP Declaration focused on building resilient and sustainable agrifood systems across Africa.

About the Kampala Declaration
The Kampala Declaration succeeds the 2014 Malabo Declaration on Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods. It establishes six key commitments aimed at transforming and strengthening the continent's agri-food systems.


Shikari Devi Wildlife Sanctuary

The Government of India has designated the areas surrounding Shikari Devi Wildlife Sanctuary as Eco-Sensitive Zones (ESZs).

About Shikari Devi Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Location: Situated in the middle altitudinal range of the Himalayas in Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Named After: Goddess Shikari Devi, to whom a temple is dedicated within the sanctuary.
  • Streams: Juni Khud, a tributary of the Beas River.
  • Recognition: Designated as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International.
  • Vegetation: Features alpine pastures and temperate deciduous forests.
  • Fauna: Home to species such as the Asiatic Black Bear, Leopard, Barking Deer, and Giant Flying Squirrel.

Blue Ghost and RESILIENCE Lunar Missions

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launched the Blue Ghost Mission 1 by U.S.-based Firefly Aerospace and Japan-based ispace’s RESILIENCE lunar lander.

About the Blue Ghost Mission
This mission will deliver 10 science and technology instruments to the lunar surface as part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative. It will also conduct pioneering demonstrations, such as testing regolith sample collection, Global Navigation Satellite System capabilities, radiation-tolerant computing, and lunar dust mitigation.

About RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE is part of ispace’s Hakuto-R Moon Mission 2 and includes the TENACIOUS micro rover. Its commercial payload consists of a water electrolyzer and deep space radiation probe.


4G and 5G Services at Siachen Glacier

4G and 5G services have been deployed to the Siachen Glacier.

About Siachen Glacier

  • Type: Piedmont glacier.
  • Location: Situated in the Karakoram Range, between Saltoro Ridge to the west and the main Karakoram Range to the east.
  • Origin: The glacier originates near Indira Col West and marks the boundary between Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
  • Significance: It is the world's second-longest non-polar glacier, after Tajikistan's Fedchenko Glacier.
  • River Source: The glacier feeds the Nubra River, a tributary of the Shyok, which is part of the Indus River system.
  • Strategic Importance: Known as the highest and coldest battlefield, it was brought under Indian control in 1984 during Operation Meghdoot.
