Technology Adoption Fund (TAF)

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) has launched the Technology Adoption Fund (TAF). IN-SPACe is an independent, autonomous agency under the Department of Space (DOS), designed to facilitate private sector participation in the space sector.

About TAF
Purpose: The TAF is a funding initiative aimed at fostering innovation and driving the commercialization of advanced technologies in the space industry.
Total Funding: ₹500 Crore
Eligibility: Open to Non-Government Entities (NGEs) in India.
Funding Details:

• Startups and MSMEs can receive up to 60% of the project cost.
• Larger industries can receive up to 40%.
• The maximum funding per project is capped at ₹25 crore.

Coalition for Environmentally Sustainable AI
Recently, a global partnership has been formed to establish the Coalition for Environmentally Sustainable AI, involving numerous countries, tech companies, and international organizations.

About the Coalition
Overview: A global initiative comprising over 100 partners, including 37 tech companies, 11 countries, and 5 international organizations, to promote the environmental sustainability of AI.
Leadership: The coalition is spearheaded by France, UNEP, and ITU.
Launch: The initiative was announced at the AI Action Summit in Paris.

Objectives:

• Utilize AI for decarbonization, pollution reduction, biodiversity conservation, and ocean protection.
• Develop standardized metrics, life cycle analysis frameworks, and sustainable AI research methodologies.
• Encourage collaboration among governments, academia, civil society, and the private sector.
