Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attack

 Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attack

Karnataka’s Kaveri 2.0 portal has recently been targeted by a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack.

About DDoS Attack: A DDoS attack is an attempt to overwhelm a website or network with traffic, aiming to degrade its performance or make it entirely inaccessible. It falls under the broader category of denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, which involve cyberattacks that slow down or disrupt applications or network services. What makes DDoS attacks unique is that they send attack traffic from multiple sources simultaneously. Often, DDoS attackers use a botnet (a network of compromised internet-connected devices) to carry out the attack.

Bacterial Cellulose: A 'Band-Aid' for Plant Healing

A study published in Science Advances reveals that bacterial cellulose functions as a natural "Band-Aid" for plant healing.

About Bacterial Cellulose: Bacterial cellulose is a natural polymer produced by specific types of bacteria. It has a unique structure that provides high purity, strength, and water retention capabilities.

Applications:

  • Medicine: Used in wound dressings and other medical applications.
  • Food: Utilized in packaging and preservation.
  • Cosmetics: Found in various cosmetic products.
  • Agriculture: Used in different agricultural applications.

About Cellulose:
Cellulose is the most abundant extracellular structural polysaccharide in plants and the most prevalent biomolecule in the biosphere. Humans cannot digest cellulose due to the absence of the enzyme cellulase, but cattle and termites can break it down thanks to symbiotic microorganisms in their gut that secrete cellulase.
