 Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS)

The DRDO has successfully completed three consecutive flight trials of the VSHORADS from Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

About Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS):

• VSHORADS is a man-portable air defence system developed indigenously by Research Center Imarat, Hyderabad, in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories.
• The system is powered by a dual-thrust solid motor and is designed to neutralize low-altitude aerial threats at short ranges.
• Its portability and quick deployment capabilities make it a vital asset for enhancing India's air defense.

International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC)
According to the Economic Survey 2024-25, vessel and container traffic through Chabahar Port and INSTC saw an increase in FY24.

About INSTC:

• The INSTC is a 7,200 km multi-modal transport route that connects the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea via Iran, and further to Northern Europe through St. Petersburg in Russia.
• Established in 2000 in St. Petersburg by Iran, Russia, and India, the corridor aims to boost trade and transport connectivity among the countries along its route.
• INSTC currently has 13 members: India, Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Oman, and Syria.
• Bulgaria has joined as an Observer State.
