Palaeognathae Group of Birds
A recent study by the University of Bristol challenges the idea that Palaeognathae birds are "dumb."
About Palaeognathae Group of Birds
Palaeognathae is a group of flightless birds that evolved early from dinosaurs. This group includes species such as ostriches, emus, rheas, cassowaries, and kiwis.
Classification:
- Tinamiformes: These include tinamous of South and Central America. Tinamous have a keeled sternum and can fly, though weakly.
- Ratitae (Ratite birds): These birds have flat sterna and reduced wings, making them unable to fly. This category includes species like the African ostrich, South American rhea, Australian emu, New Guinea cassowary, and the kiwi of New Zealand.
Tea Horse Road (THR)
China's Ambassador to India recently posted about the historic Tea Horse Road (THR) on X.
About THR
The Tea Horse Road connected India to China through Tibet, though it’s less well-known than the Silk Road that linked China and Europe. It wasn’t a single road but rather a network of branching paths that started in southwest China and ended in the Indian subcontinent.
Two primary routes passed through cities like Dali and Lijiang in Yunnan province, reaching Lhasa in Tibet before branching into present-day India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Origin:
The Tea Horse Road originated during the Tang dynasty in China (618-907 CE) and served as a vital commercial route for centuries.
