 PM-KISAN Scheme

The Prime Minister congratulated farmers on the completion of six years of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

About the PM-KISAN Scheme

  • Ministry: Launched in 2019 by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
  • Objective: To support the financial needs of eligible landholding farmers' families for purchasing essential agricultural inputs.
  • Benefits: Provides Rs. 6,000 annually to small and marginal farmers in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000, through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
  • Beneficiaries: All landholding farmer families, excluding institutional landholders and higher-income taxpayers.
  • Funding: A central sector scheme fully funded by the Government of India.

Kaziranga National Park
India’s External Affairs Minister, along with heads of missions from 61 countries, recently visited Kaziranga National Park.

About Kaziranga National Park (KNP)

  • Location: Situated between the Brahmaputra River and the Karbi (Mikir) Hills in Assam, India.
  • Status: It is a National Park, Tiger Reserve, Important Bird Area (IBA), and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (designated in 1985).
  • Famous For: Hosting the largest population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, with 2,613 individuals as per the 2022 census.
  • Biodiversity: Home to the "Big Four" – tigers, elephants, swamp deer, and wild buffalo.
  • Migratory Birds: An important location for migratory birds, as it lies at the junction of the Australasia and Indo-Asian flyways.
