New Credit Assessment Model for MSMEs
The Finance Minister has introduced a digital footprint-based credit assessment model for MSMEs.
As part of the Union Budget 2024-25, it was announced that Public Sector Banks (PSBs) will develop in-house capabilities to assess MSMEs for credit, rather than relying on external assessments.
The model will utilize digital footprints, which may include Name and PAN authentication via NSDL, mobile and email verification using OTP, API-based GST data retrieval from service providers, and bank statement analysis, among others. This model will create automated processes for MSME loan appraisals.
