• Nature: It is a voluntary declaration focusing on resource efficiency and sustainable material consumption. The declaration also addresses informal sectors, gender issues, and labor concerns.

• A global knowledge platform, C-3 (Cities Coalition for Circularity), has been established as part of the declaration.

• The declaration outlines measures for implementation, partnerships, technology transfer, funding mechanisms, and research and development.

• It emphasizes the integration of the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and circular economy concepts.

• Platinum is a shiny, silvery metal and is rarer than both gold and silver.
• It is one of the most stable metals, highly resistant to corrosion, even at high temperatures.
• Platinum is typically found in alluvial deposits and is primarily sourced from South Africa, where it is extracted from the mineral cooperite (platinum sulfide). Some platinum is also produced as a by-product of copper and nickel refining.

Applications:

• Chemical industry: Used as a catalyst in the production of nitric acid, silicone, and benzene.

• Bijayananda Patnaik, popularly known as Biju Pattnaik, was a key architect of modern Odisha.

• In 1942, he actively participated in the Quit India Movement.
• He served as a pilot in the Indian Air Force.
• He became Chief Minister of Odisha in 1961.
• He founded the Kalinga Foundation, dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge in science, and established the Kalinga Prize awarded by UNESCO.

Achievements:

• The Indonesian Government honored him with the Bhumi Putra (Son of Soil) title for his significant role in the Indonesian freedom struggle.
