Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Somnath Temple to offer prayers.

About Somnath Temple:

Location: Prabhas Patan, near Veraval, in Saurashtra, Gujarat.
History: The temple has been destroyed several times by invaders, first in 1297 by Mahmud of Ghazni.
Architecture: The current temple is built in the Chalukya style of Hindu temple architecture and was last reconstructed in 1951.
Religious Significance: It is the first among the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Location: Situated at the Triveni Sangam, where three rivers—Kapila, Hiran, and Sarasvati—converge.


Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary

Two new species of jumping spiders have been discovered in Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary.

About Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary:

Location: Western Ghats, Kerala.
The sanctuary is part of the Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve and is named after the endemic species Gluta travancorica, locally known as Chenkurinji.
It shares boundaries with Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve and Nellai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu.
Major Rivers: Shendurney, Kazhuthurutty, and Kulathupuzha.
Forest Type: Myristica swamp forest.
Fauna: The sanctuary is home to elephants, gaurs, sambars, wild bears, Malabar giant squirrels, Nilgiri langurs, and lion-tailed macaques.
