Cheetah Reintroduction at Kuno National Park
Recently, five more cheetahs were released into Kuno National Park.

About Kuno National Park:

  • Location: Situated in the Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh, extending into the Vindhyan Hills.
  • Name Origin: The park is named after the Kuno River, a tributary of the Chambal River.
  • History: It was designated as a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1981 and became a National Park in 2018.
  • Ecosystem: It falls under the northern tropical dry deciduous forest.
  • Flora: Includes species like Kardhai, Salai, and Khair trees.
  • Fauna: Home to animals such as spotted deer, sambar, nilgai, and barking deer.

Phase-2 of PMAY-G Launched by the Prime Minister

About PMAY-G:

  • Ministry: Launched by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) in 2016.
  • Objective: To provide affordable, permanent homes with basic amenities to rural households, ensuring "Housing for All" in rural India.
  • Target: Initially set to build 2.95 crore homes by 2023-24, the target has been expanded to 4.95 crore homes by 2024-29.
  • Financial Assistance: Eligible beneficiaries can receive loans up to Rs. 70,000 at a reduced interest rate of 3% for the construction of their permanent homes.
  • Beneficiaries: Identified through SECC 2011 and Awaas+ (2018) surveys, and verified by Gram Sabhas.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Houseless households and households with kuccha (temporary) houses.
