Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) recently held a session on GDKP measurement.

About GDKP:

  • The Gross Domestic Knowledge Product (GDKP) was introduced by Prof. Umberto Sulpasso from the University of Southern California, in collaboration with Prof. Jeff Cole.
  • GDKP is a proposed metric designed to measure the knowledge generated and utilized within an economy.
  • It assesses a nation's growth and future prospects through four core pillars:
    • Knowledge Items (Ki): Identifying both modern and culturally distinct local knowledge items.
    • Country's Knowledge Producing Matrix (CKPM): Compares knowledge produced by government, private institutions, and households.
    • Country's Knowledge User Matrix (CKUM): The value of knowledge purchased by individuals and private companies.
    • Cost of Learning: Similar to the cost of living, it serves as a political reference for government budgeting decisions.
