The Union Minister for Education recently launched 41 new books under the PM YUVA 2.0 scheme.

About the PM YUVA 2.0 Scheme:

• Ministry: Launched in 2022 by the Ministry of Education as part of the India@75 Project (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav).
• Overview: It is an Author Mentorship program designed to train young, aspiring authors under the age of 30.
• Objective: To encourage reading, writing, and the culture of books in India while promoting Indian authorship and literature globally.
• Significance: The scheme aims to foster a new generation of writers who can highlight India’s heritage, culture, and knowledge systems through their work.

Private Member’s Bill

Recently, several private member bills were introduced in Parliament.

About Private Member’s Bill:

• A Private Member’s Bill is a legislative proposal initiated by a Member of Parliament (MP) who is not a Minister.
• The responsibility for drafting the bill lies with the concerned MP.
• To introduce the bill in the House, the MP must give one month’s notice.
• Such bills often represent the opposition party's stance on public issues.
• In Lok Sabha, the last two-and-a-half hours of business every Friday are allocated for these bills.
• In Rajya Sabha, two-and-a-half hours are allotted every alternate Friday.
• Only 14 Private Member’s Bills have ever become law, with the most recent one in 1970.
