The Lok Sabha and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have collaborated to develop the Sansad Bhashini initiative, aimed at enabling AI-powered multilingual operations within Parliament.

About the Sansad Bhashini Initiative:

• Objective: To utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance multilingual support (through Bhashini) and improve the efficiency of parliamentary operations.
• Bhashini: An AI-driven language translation platform developed by MeitY.
• Key AI Initiatives: The Sansad Bhashini initiative includes AI-based translation services and an AI-powered chatbot for the Parliament website, among other features.

State of Climate 2024 Report

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has published the "State of Climate 2024" report.

Key Highlights:

• Global Warming: Greenhouse gas levels are at their highest in the past 800,000 years, according to the WMO.
• Temperature Trends: Each of the last 10 years ranks among the 10 warmest years on record since 1850.
• Melting Cryosphere: Frozen regions of the Earth's surface, known as the cryosphere, are melting at an alarming rate.
• Extreme Weather: Extreme weather events caused the highest number of displacements in 2024 since 2008.
